I like to stay at the YMCA

Between 1915 and 1926, the University of Cincinnati‘s student enrollment nearly tripled. This growth in enrollment caused students to fight over space to meet for their organizations. As a result, two local architects designed the university YMCA located on 270 Calhoun street in Clifton. Though the building is vacant today, the gothic-style building served a large purpose in the 1930s. The building was used for student organizations, student government, and other clubs to gather for conferences or meetings. During World War II, the YMCA operated as an army service center for soldiers in training at UC. Click here to learn more about the history of the university YMCA. Since it’s closure, there have been attempts to give new life to the building, including talk about it becoming an alumni center in 2016. How do you think the building can be used today?
