University YMCA

In 1930 when the University of Cincinnati YMCA building was completed, it was viewed as an architectural masterpiece. The YMCA building was used committee meetings, religious meetings, lectures and conferences. The lower floor of the building housed the YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association).  During World War II the YMCA served as an Army Service Center, allowing for soldiers in training to partake in recreational activities. The importance of the YMCA building was immeasurable because of how much it was used for, including serving as a cafeteria in the 1940s. The building has been vacant for years and it would take a major renovation to become usable.
