"Kills has this one point of merit: he stays at home. However, he does not work. His boy is a very good worker and does what is done on the place. They have a good deal of inherited land and they are anxious to sell some of the inherited land to get funds for improving their home by building a stable and other buildings and generally improving the place. This is commendable, but we can only sell land when someone is willing to buy it. We will keep this is mind, and attempt to comply with his request. In this case, as in many others, I think the one thing that will cause them to make better use of their land is to realize that there is no money coming in except such as they earn on their land."
