"This young man has continued to live with his mother. He promised me last year that he would go onto his wife's allotment and make a home of his own, even living in a tent for a time, if necessary, but he has not moved and I suppose his mother and his stepfather discourage his making the start, as his stepfather rather boasts that he is not a laboring man, that he is a gentleman. This young man is cultivating a small crop this year but seems to be doing that in partnership with another party, so that his share of it will be very limited. The getting of these young married people out away from their older relatives and onto places of their own, is one of the most important things we can do for them and we have worked along that line constantly."
