1922 Industrial Survey of Plenty Coups

"This place has the appearance of a real farm. Plenty Coos is the head chief of the Crow tribe and sets a very good example. Even at his age, he goes out on the farm and works. He said, the boys were to start cutting hay "tomorrow." I called his attention to the fact that "tomorrow" was Sunday. He said he would go to Church in the morning and mow alfalfa in the afternoon. He takes good care of his cattle, looking after them partly himself, and always has them well located. He was undecided where he would go for the Fourth. He had been invited to Cody and Powell, Wyoming, with a number of his people, to put on some sort of savage exhibition. It appeared that this party might not materialize. He was also invited to go with the Missionary to Lapwai, Idaho, to a Church gathering there. I have since learned that he went to Lapwai to the Church meeting. Plenty Coos sets a good example to his tribe in the way of industry and care of his stock."
