1922 Industrial Survey of Plenty Hawk

"Plenty Hawk lives somewhat away from the other Indian settlements. He is reputed to stay at home all the time and works very well. He was in the field loading hay when I was there and came in for just a few minutes to see what we wanted, then returned to his work. It really looks quite like a farm. They suffered this year from early hail, which destroyed most of the garden and most of the first alfalfa crop and then the grasshoppers invaded the fields and cleaned up most of what grew after the hail had passed. This man gives promise of doing very well as an Indian farmer."
