"These people live at home very well. They do not have many people about them regularly. The house is moderately well furnished, rather indifferently kept. They are leaders in the peyote religion, and especially the woman, who became quite earnest in her talk when I asked them something about peyote and indicated to them that I did not think it was a good thing for them. Tom has not been famous for pushing his work, but he has usually attended to his own business and managed to support himself and wife without sponging off from other people. He probably wastes some time now following the peyote worship, but he has been putting up considerable hay and his wheat was about ready to cut and he was preparing to start to work on it."
