"Albert is another of the very smart advisors and counselor, and if fluent talk in council or in private, would produce potatoes, he would never go hungry. He has some very good dry farm land and usually has a considerable acreage of crop, but he never cultivates it himself. He either rents the place on a crop rental or makes some arrangement for someone to plant and harvest the crop for him for a share, and he usually gets the best of his employee or tenant in the division. He has been quite addicted to the use of liquor when he could get it and he can generally get it. He has a place that could be made a very profitable farm if he lived there and cultivated it himself. It is our observation here that a man who is a widower at his age, seldom stays at home. He travels around, stopping with his friends and relatives, and he may work with them, but it is unusual for a widower to settle down and stay on his place. It is to be hoped that he will soon marry again to some woman who is a little better farmer than he is and we may succeed in getting him to make better use of his land."
