1922 Industrial Survey of Charles Dillon

"Mr. Dillon is a Sioux Indian and his wife is 1/2 Indian blood, her father being one of the old early pioneers of this section. They are rather superior people. They stay at home and work very diligently (strike satisfactorily). They have recently gone on to some new land, cleared it of brush along the river, built two houses, one cabin for her father. They cleared a place along the river for some fruit, strawberries, garden etc., and give promise of making a real farm. They had but little farmland under their allotments as they were, and were disappointed in not securing certain other land that was offered for sale, but the new allotments and some recent adjustments probably will have a very good place. I say their children in public school and they were doing just the same as the rest and apparently no distinction whatever was made."
