Built in 1916 under the direction of Arch Carson, Nippert stadium is the sixth-oldest Division I field in the nation. The field was named after Jimmy Nippert, who played football at UC in 1923, but died after complications from blood poisoning.

Nippert Stadium hosted one of the first night football in the United States on Sept. 29, 1923. The stadium has undergone renovations in 1936, 1954, 2005 and most recently in 2015.

Nippert is unique in that it’s open for students at all times. Students can study in the stands on a nice day or play games on the field. This isn’t true about most college stadiums.
