Van Wormer Library

Van Wormer Hall was the first library on UC’s campus making it one of the oldest buildings on campus. In 1898, the University Board of Directors accepted a gift of 1,000 shares of stock in the Cincinnati Street Railway Co., worth $50,000 from Asa Van Wormer. Asa Van Wormer funded the library as a gift in the memory of his late wife.

The library was opened in 1901 and in 2006, following a $10.7 million dollar renovation, the building became the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost for Baccalaureate and Graduate Education and graduate school offices.
