The Lucky Horned Frog

A taste of the infamous Texas Christain University

A picture of the Lucky Horned Frog Statue

While Texas Christian University has plenty of traditions, it’s mascot the Horned Frog, is the cherry on top of everything relating to the University. This statue of the Lucky Horned Frog stands in between Reed and Sadler Halls. The statue was sculpted by Seppo Aarnos and installed onto the University in 1984.

It was commissioned by TCU’s student government in 1984, and Seppo Aarnos was hired to complete the sculpture. Now why it’s called the “Lucky” Horned Frog is because it has become a tradition for students to rub the statues nose for good luck before an exam.
