World War II Memorial

Located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the World War II Memorial is dedicated to the Americans from all 48 states who served in the armed forced during World War II.

The World War II memorial was opened to the public on April 29th, 2004. It honors 16 million members of all American armed forces who fought in World War II. The memorial includes 56 granite columns representing the 48 states and two territories at the time of the war. Alongside the columns are two 45-foot arches guarding the grand fountain in the center of the memorial.
