Window Into The Past: Ohio Renaissance Festival

Renaissance faires are public outdoor weekend gatherings which recreate a historical setting for guests’ amusement.  Highlights include costumed entertainers, musical and theatrical acts, wares, and festival food. Many Renaissance faires, such as the Ohio Renaissance Festival, which annually occurs on weekends in August-October, are set during Queen Elizabeth I’s reign.

Renaissance faires provide people with a sense of how people in the late 1500s and early 1600’s dressed and entertained themselves.  They bring awareness and knowledge of a time in history people might not be aware of unless they watch documentaries or remember anything from middle school World History.
