This statue is a relative new addition to UC. It was unveiled in 2010 as a gift from the honorary UC organization Sigma Sigma. That means the mean looking cat is only 8 years old! The statue is made of bronze, listed as 14ft high on the artists website, and is installed at the roundabout in front of 5/3 Arena.

It was made by John Hair, who worked for the U.S Olympic Committee and Shanghai and Beijing to name other clients. It’s design was actually the winner of a national contest UC held to pick the best design.
