The Ubiquitous Schneider

I live in Schneider Hall, cross the Schneider Quadrangle every other day, and pass a bust of one Herman Schneider every single day.  Why is his name all over UC’s campus?

According to the bust in front of Baldwin Hall, Herman Schneider was the founder of cooperative education in 1906.  Beneath the bust, a plaque lists the University of Cincinnati Cooperative Education Hall of Honor inductees from 2006 to 2014, honoring those who follow in the footsteps of Schneider.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Schneider has even more significance for UC – something to investigate at a later date.
