Connecting Two States

The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge not only connects the two states of Ohio and Kentucky, but it also connects the present to the past. The bridge was built to help commerce in the Ohio river that was congested with steamboat traffic. When it opened on December 1, 1866, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. The bridge remains one of Cincinnati’s busiest bridges and it became a National Historic Landmark in 1975. Also open to pedestrians, the bridge provides beautiful views of the Ohio River, Downtown Cincinnati, and Covington. Go checkout this historic landmark!
