After it first opened in 1911, the Esquire Theatre in Clifton showed silent films and live events on stage. The Esquire Theatre made it through hardships including the Great Depression and the development of suburban movie theaters, but closed in 1983. After a few years, investors and community members made an effort to help re-open the theater.  The attempt was successful and it opened back up in 1990.  In 2012, USA Today named Esquire Theatre as “One of the Top 10 Reasons to visit Cincinnati.”
