With architecture ranging from gothic to neoclassical, being one of the largest cemeteries in the U.S., and the resting place of some famous and influential individuals Spring Grove Cemetery offers the locals a taste of different points in local history.

The Sentinel stands at the ready while over looking the Civil War soldiers' burial ground.

The Soldier’s Monument or also known as “The Sentinel” was placed in Spring Grove Cemetery in 1866. The statue was modeled by Randolph Rogers in Rome in 1864 and bronzed by Ferdinand von Miller’s Royal Foundry in 1865. The base of this statue was created by James G. Batterson’s New England Granite Works of Hartford CT.
