While studying abroad in Ireland, I had the chance to visit Blarney Castle, Blarney House, and the grounds. The Castle is a famous tourist site, built by the MacCarthy family where thousands come every year to kiss The Blarney Stone, seeking the powers that the rock is rumored to hold. It was fascinating to see what the way fo life would have been for the residents of the Castle, especially given the constant danger they were in from neighboring families. The House was a mix of modern, with the house still being a residence for Irish peerage and history.
