This 1/600 scale model of the USS Enterprise is a fascinating and educational replica of America’s first nuclear powered aircraft carrier. The USS Enterprise was commissioned in 1961 and served until it was decommissioned in 2017. It played important roles in historical events such as the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. The carrier had a length of 1,101 feet and could hold over 4,600 people.
Its architect, an avid model enthusiast, received the kit in 2021 as a gift. He started his three month journey to assemble the kit. During those three months the model served as more than just a hobby; it became a stress reliever. It provided him with a much needed outlet for some quality time alone, allowing his mind to rest. This project was educational, too, as it deepened his understanding of naval history. Hobbies can be both therapeutic and educational.
