The Robinson Mausoleum

A photo of the gothic style Robinson mausoleum that is surrounded by tall, green trees that cast a shadow on the mausoleum.

The Robinson mausoleum is in place to commemorate John Robinson and the legacy he left in Cincinnati. A gothic version of the Sacra Coeur in Paris, France, here, family and circus members alike are buried. Robinson was best known for starting the country’s first traveling circus, owning the Robinson Opera House, and for assisting in the creation of the U.S. Printing CO. and U.S. Playing Card Co. Although his circus traveled all throughout the country, the wagons, cages, costumes, and equipment used were made in Cincinnati, meaning the heart of his circus was in the Queen City.
