Forest and Cliffs

Red River Gorge is one of my favorite hiking destinations. Being a thirteen thousand-acre wilderness of forest and cliffs, there are many natural structures and beautiful views. It has been designated a National Natural Landmark, a National Archaeological District, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003 due to the large presence of artifacts from prehistoric indigenous peoples. The gorge is also home to much wildlife including hawks, owls, foxes, black bears, and venomous snakes. The main attraction for the gorge is hiking, for which there are over sixty miles of trails. Go have fun!
