In Memory Of…

Most of the time, memorials are local, established at the site of a tragedy, or at least in the same city.  However, national tragedies appear to be an exception.  Case in point: the 9/11 memorial found in the middle of McMicken Commons at the University of Cincinnati.

The memorial itself is a low, polished wall of black stone.  The only markings are a carving on top, reading “We resolve to seek knowledge that leads to greater understanding among the peoples of the world in memory of those who died on September 11, 2001.”  No other interpretation is given.
