John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge

The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge stretches across the Ohio River, connecting Kentucky and Ohio. Named after the engineer who designed the bridge, John Roebling began construction on the bridge in 1856. Due to loss of funds and the outbreak of the Civil War, construction halted and the bridge wasn’t finished until January 1, 1867. The bridge became a National Historic Landmark in 1982, and is well known for its blue color which has since become known as “Roebling Blue”. The historic bridge is celebrated every June at Roebling Fest.
