The Village Where History Lives

Mariemont, OH is a small village just east of Cincinnati that is rich in history. So much so that the entire community has earned status as a National Historic Landmark and Is on the National Register of Historic Places.

This was my first visit here and I was participating in an archaeological field study.  I came away from the experience with a lesson in history.  A descendant of the founding family shared details of how much of the village came to be.  The trees were brought in from Mount Vernon to make it look established and the Community Church was built with rafters of the local barns that were originally on the land, the roof, walls, and pews came from buildings in England.
