Marian Spencer Hall

Marian Spencer Hall (Built in 2017) is a dormitories located on UC’s campus. The dormitory was attributed to commemorate a former alumni, Marian Spencer. She was an English major and graduated in 1942. She was an African-American student, one of many who couldn’t stay in the dormitories and do extracurriculars. To combat segregation at the time she started a musical theatre group called the Quadres and attempted to put a African-American athlete on the all white student council. She was also the first African-American woman elected onto Cincinnati City Council. She received numerous awards and she sadly passed at the age of 99.
