Near Sigma Sigma commons is this bench. It is dedicated to Samuel Vincent Dubose. July 19th, 2015 he was shot and killed by a University Of Cincinnati police officer during a traffic stop.

After his death, protests happened in multiple cities in the United States. The police who shot and killed him was taken on trial and charged with murder and voluntary manslaughter. The university paid 4.85 million dollars to settle a lawsuit filed by Samuel’s family and offered free undergraduate education to his children.
